Fishing Reel Warranty Repair! Posted 3/12/2006

Your fishing reel needs repair and it is still under warranty. Did the fishing reel fail during normal use? Or, did you provide the reason for the fishing reel failure? If the fishing reel failed during normal use then you need to send the fishing reel to the manufacture's warranty service center.

Go to your manila envelope where you stored the papers that came with your fishing reel when you purchased it. There will usually be instructions that tell you what to do if your fishing reel needs repair while it is under warranty. If there are no warranty repair centers listed then contact the manufacturer directly and ask them for the address and telephone number of their warranty repair center close to your location. The manufacturer may request that you send the fishing reel directly to them for exchange or repair. If they exchange the reel you may not get the same model you sent for warranty repair!

It is wise to always contact the warranty repair center before mailing your fishing reel. Ask them about turn around time so you have some idea how long your reel will be out of your hands. You should ask them about return shipping charges. Sometimes you are expected to pay shipping charges both ways. In rare cases there may be no charge for repair parts but there may be a labor charge to you for the warranty repair work completed.

After the warranty repair center receives your fishing reel, they may determine that the reel did not fail due to normal use. In that case you will be expected to pay all associated repair costs as well as return shipping charges. Usually you will be notified if that is the determination.

I always recommend that you insure your fishing reel when you mail it for service. It is wise to insure it for replacement cost. If the fishing reel does get lost or further damaged during shipping - it does happen - then you will at least have the money to buy a new replacement fishing reel.

If you do not have any idea who to contact about warranty repair work for your fishing reel, you can contact us at J. L. Reel Service. In most cases we can provide you the information you need to contact the manufacturer or their warranty repair center.
